Bio
William Brock is a Multi-Instrumentalist, Composer, Producer and Music Instructor living in the Cincinnati Metropolitan Area. Since early childhood, his love for music has continuously enriched his life and provided him with amazing opportunities and lasting friendships. After hearing “Eruption”for the first time at 9 years old he said “I wanna do that!” He then began feverishly practicing hours every day until he could.
After high school in 2006 he toured internationally with a grind-core group called “The Heartland.” Even though he loved the intensity of the music he had a longing to become more educated in the field of music. The group disbanded and he moved to Toronto, ON where he attended The Audio Recording Academy. Shortly after arriving in 2010, he began working as a Song Writer, Session Guitarist, Producer, and Audio Engineer with: “The Weeknd,” Canadian Idol finalists “The Pigott Brothers,” and “Serena Ryder.”
In 2012 he moved back to his hometown of Cincinnati due to international visa issues. He then suffered a neck injury in 2013 which resulted in him being unable to play guitar for nearly 2 years. Too dedicated and stubborn to give up, he began waking up at 5am nearly every morning before work to relearn how to play his instrument. He also began working as a studio assitant with a local music therapy studio where he saw the joy music could bring to the hearts of even the most physically disabled people. Shortly thereafter he began performing again. He played with several local groups such as “LaTron”, “The Jazz Renaissance” and “The Jump ‘N Jive Big Band.”
With his ability on guitar now fully recovered he was greeted with a new level of musical knowledge and technical prowess which ignited a passion for teaching students privately. In August 2016, he was awarded 2nd place in Premier Guitar Magazine’s Melody Writing Contest which awarded him a donation made in his name to “The Jason Becker Special Needs Trust,” a charitable trust fund set up to help pay for the legendary guitarist’s ALS related medical bills. In 2019 he performed at the Ohio Music Education Association conference with the Jazz Education Connection Orchestra under the direction of world renowned pianist Steve Allee.
Today William continues to pursue music with a fiery passion, educate himself and others and release music under the moniker “Onoyaheh,” a solo jazz fusion project incorporating elements of Hip-hop, R&B and Modern Jazz.
